Overview

Doulas provide prenatal, childbirth, and early childhood support for at-risk pregnancies. This support includes:

  • Advocacy and support at prenatal appointments, during childbirth, and at postnatal and well-baby check-ups
  • Breastfeeding support
  • Childbirth preparation
  • Education on prenatal developments and caring for an infant
  • Lamaze instruction

Average Length of Service

Services typically last the duration of the pregnancy, plus 3 to 6 months after birth.

Frequency & Location of Contacts

Contacts are as needed and can occur in the home or community, including in medical settings.

Eligibility

There is not age restriction in this program. Participants must be pregnant at the time of referral.
